10th Jun 09 - Esh Group builds £1.5m Northumberland HQ


Brand new 6,000 m2 facility to include offices, workshops, plant yards and depot

Construction has started on a new Northumberland headquarters for Esh Group, one of the North East’s largest construction companies. The move sees the development of a 6,000 sq m site at a cost of over £1.5 million. The new facilities will include:

  • 600 sq m office accommodation for all Group companies and primarily for Wilkinson Facilities Services and Stephen Easten Building
  • workshops and materials storage facilities for all Esh Group businesses
  • northern area depot for Mechplant’s plant hire business

      Lumsden & Carroll Construction, the design & build and civil engineering arm of Esh Group is carrying out the work which is scheduled for completion in late autumn this year. The site at Baker Road, Nelson Way to the west of Cramlington has been acquired on a long lease from One North East.

      Brian Manning, Chief Executive of Esh Group explained:

      ‘This is an important move for Esh Group, part of our commitment to the whole North East region. We have an increasing number of clients and contracts north of the Tyne and into Scotland including Northumbria Police and Northumberland County Council. Our new Northumberland headquarters will help us to service them and to grow our business more effectively.’

      Jeff Reid, Leader of Northumberland County Council was guest of honour at an event marking the progress of the project on Wednesday 10th June. He commented:

      ‘I am delighted that Esh Group has chosen to make this important investment in Cramlington.

      I am impressed with them, both in the range and quality of their work and their commitment to regional procurement. I have every confidence that the wider Northumberland economy will benefit as a result of this expansion and I wish them every success."
